Drake Opens Up To Host Elliott Wilson In Latest Episode Of “CRWN”

Myspace is pleased to present the latest episode of CRWN, a live interview series which pairs the biggest names in hip-hop with one of the most respected names in hip-hop media—long-time music journalist, blogger and entrepreneur Elliott Wilson (Founder, Rap Radar)—for an intimate conversation. The latest installment features an intimate interview with Grammy® Award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist Drake, whose highly anticipated album Nothing Was the Same was released yesterday. During the in-depth conversation, Drake opens up on everything from working with Jay Z and being on the top of his game to being the subject of an Internet meme and what he thinks of Twitter.

“There are other mediums aside from just performing and releasing albums… I love to talk, I get that from my mother. I was eager to come and sit with people and hopefully get more of my story out there, stuff that’s too tough to put into music… Sometimes there are things you need to say and sometimes when I’m getting interviewed I don’t get to say those things,” Drake told CRWN backstage before the interview. “The reason why I like talking with you [Elliott] is because I really feel like you’re trying to bring answers to these people and not tear apart my character or nitpick at me.”

“I love having the opportunity to speak with my favorite artists in front of their biggest fans,” says Elliott Wilson, host and co-executive producer of CRWN“The CRWN format provides such a unique experience that combines a comfortable, intimate setting with an enthusiastic crowd, it’s incredible to see how the artists respond to that and go so deep into their process. I look forward to continuing to bring journalism to life like this with future episodes.”

CRWN exemplifies the kind of creative content artists, brands and influencers should be making together. Through Elliott’s tactful interviews, artists get a chance to tell their story and engage their fans in a fresh and viral format,” says Jesse Kirshbaum, CEO of NUE & SoundCtrl and co-executive producer of CRWN. “We’re able to capture the experience happening at these intimate live events and share that essence and feel with millions and millions of people who aren’t there.  Encapsulating a moment—which fans may never otherwise have an opportunity to see—always makes for engaging entertainment.”

“We really liked this concept for an A-List interview, and nobody garners as much respect from artists as Elliott Wilson,” said Joseph Patel, vice president of content and creative at Myspace. “The CRWN series gives fans a closer look at their favorite musicians – it’s open and conversational and hosted by one of the best in the industry. We’re very excited about this series and the CRWN brand.”

Produced by LOUD, the series debuted this past April with Tyler, the Creator followed by J. ColeWale, and Macklemore. Released in three parts, Part 1 of the CRWN interview with Drake debuts today on Myspace, with Parts 2 and 3 to follow on Thursday (9/26) and Friday (9/27), respectively.
