Whitney Houston’s Nephew Continues Musical Legacy

GaryMichaelHoustonGary Michael Houston, the nephew of legendary singer Whitney Houston, will release his latest independent album The Collins LP on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.

The Collins LP marks a turning point in Gary Michael’s career, as the alternative hip-hop artist is geared to be the next musician in a long line of vocalists to carry on the family’s musical legacy, following in the steps of his grandmother Cissy Houston, aunt Whitney Houston, cousins Dee Dee and Dionne Warwick. ““Although I have independently released four projects in the past, I would consider The Collins LP my first real album”,” said Houston. “”I feel like I have been waiting my entire life to do some of these songs. It’s my memoir, my sound track, but most importantly it’s my tribute to my mentor and best friend, my aunt Whitney.””

Houston will also debut “The Trilogy”, a short film composed of three music videos from the album’s lead singles entitled The Original, Dreams, and Holy Ghost, exclusively on www.garymhouston.com. The film, shot in Whitney’s hometown of Newark, NJ and at the late singer’s Mendham, NJ estate, offers fans a preview of the album, and serves as Gary Michael’s ode to his aunt as February 14th marks the 26th anniversary of the release of her self-titled album debut. The Collins LP will be available for free download for 24 hours on www.garymhouston.com and then will be sold via www.garymhouston.com. Notable features include collaborations with Jonathan Houston, son of uncle Gary Houston and great cousin Dee Dee Warwick.
