First Look: Alexander Wang for H&M

Wait no more – the Alexander Wang for H&M collection has finally been revealed!

Fashion junkies have been on the edges of their seats awaiting a glimpse of the fast-fashion powerhouse’s collaboration with the streetwear designer since it was announced in April via Wang’s Instagram account. It’s H&M’s first collab with an American designer.

H&M teased audiences with the collection’s theme by posting an Instagram picture of a boxing gloves keyring and a punching bag, Two months later Rihanna gave us a glimpse of the collection when she hit the New York City streets in a grey crop top and matching Alexander Wang-branded leggings.

Now, the full lookbook has been revealed, accompanied by a virtual runway show that streamed from the H&M site on Oct. 16.

The athletic influence on the line is far from subtle. The collection combines performance with fashion, featuring quick-dry material that reveals hidden messages and pieces that are reminiscent of various sports uniforms. Expect neoprene and mesh juxtaposed with leather and laser cutouts.

The color palette is restricted to black, white and grey. Also, as a nod to the resurgence of in-your-face, 90’s-esque branding, much of the line is emblazoned with “WANG” in large letters.

True to Wang’s taste, sporty accessories emphasize the theme, adding some humor with duffel bags, yoga mats, water bottles, goggles and even boxing gloves.

Alexander Wang for H&M will be available online and in 250 H&M stores worldwide on Nov. 6, retailing for $130 to $300. Check out the pieces from the lookbook in the slideshow below:
