Next Level Burger – America’s First 100% Plant-Based Burger Joint – Brings its Burger Goodness to Brooklyn

Next Level Burger (NLB), a fast-growing phenomenon, recognized as America’s first 100-percent plant-based burger joint, is coming to New York. Fresh off the grand opening of its first California location in Concord, NLB’s first East Coast location opens January 31 in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. New York’s first NLB will be part of the grand opening of the area’s first Whole Foods Market 365 store, located at the new 300 Ashland Place development. The 35-story tower next to the Brooklyn Academy of Music will also house Apple’s second Brooklyn store, a branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, a BAM theater, and the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts. Upon opening, the Fort Greene location will be the sixth restaurant in NLB’s fast-growing portfolio.

“We started NLB with this idea of feeding the people—all people—food that’s really good and good for you, and we can’t imagine a better place to do it than Brooklyn,” said CEO and co-founder Matt de Gruyter. “Coming to New York City is an epic next step for us. We dreamed of this moment back when we opened our very first shop in Bend, Oregon—and now opening in Brooklyn, we couldn’t be more jazzed to see Next Level Burger become part of this exciting, diverse neighborhood that’s as down-to-earth as it is cool.”

NLB is known for pioneering The Burger Revolution by reinventing the classic American burger joint experience – serving up plant-based twists on menu staples, from stacked burgers and fries to diner-style, hand-spun shakes. Created by husband and wife duo Cierra and Matt de Gruyter, NLB has been riding a wave of growth since the opening of its first store in 2014. Since then the brand has celebrated key milestones, including openings in Seattle, California and now New York.

NLB prides itself on an all-inclusive, welcoming atmosphere that offers guests from all walks of life healthy alternatives to the norm, with something for everyone. Menu highlights include over a dozen delectable burger combos like the house-made Signature Burger, the Bleu BBQ or the Sausage Bacon—all sustainably sourced, non-GMO, with all organic produce. And, of course, you can get fries with that – even chili cheese fries. But it’s not just the burgers, dogs, fries and tots that have fans lining up for more. NLB shakes are quickly reaching legendary status, made with guest’s choice of soy or coconut soft serve and come in delightful creations like Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, as well as nostalgic favorites like organic chocolate or vanilla.
