National Sunglasses Day is June 27th

June 27th is National Sunglasses Day, an event put on by the Vision Council to help raise awareness for UV protection.  At EyeBuyDirect, sunglasses are near and dear to our hearts – both as a way to protect our eyes, as well as a way to make a fashion statement.

We recently asked over 1,000 individuals their habits when it comes to shades. Below are some of the key findings:

  • Over 60% always or usually wear sunglasses, with less than 10%  never wearing shades
  • Top reasons people wear sunglasses:
    • 48% – so they don’t have to squint/it’s easier on their eyes
    • 42% – to protect against UV rays/for health concerns.
    • 10% – as a fashion accessory
  • If not wearing shades, nearly 75% say it is because they’ve left them somewhere, or they can’t find them
  • Over 50% lose at least 1 pair of sunglasses each year; 29% lose 2 or more pairs

With frames starting at just $6, EyeBuyDirect makes it easy and affordable for everyone to always have a pair of shades when you need them, ensuring your eyes are always protected. All frames are available for prescription and non-prescription, affording customers the ability to customize their sunglasses for their specific eyesight needs. The online experience includes a virtual try-on feature for satisfaction-guaranteed shopping.

Let me know if you have any questions about the data, or if you would like to dive in deeper. I’d be happy to set up a quick call.

And don’t forget to snap a pic of yourself in your favorite shades on June 27th with the hashtag, #sunglassselfie.
