New NYC Restaurant Alert: Elysian Fields Café

The Columbia University community is now more vibrant with the arrival of Elysian Fields Café, where guests can enjoy delectable traditional and contemporary Mediterranean cuisine while relaxing and socializing in an exciting, rustic-modern space with a pop of a metropolitan feel.  

The 5,500 square-foot space is beautifully divided in two sections. The 3000 sq.ft. Café seats 200 and is located at 1207 Amsterdam Avenue at 119th and 120th Streets extending nearly the entire city block. The main dining room boasts a full bar with an eclectic collection of carefully curated craft beers and boutique wines and spirits. Top mixologists perfect the classics and create the most modern and new cocktails in a lively, yet personal setting.

The lower level known as “The Apollo Room” (1,500 square feet) features a full wine bar boasting classic and current vintages in a space radiating the warmth of a sunken living room or vintage speakeasy. The seating area is perfect for socializing, engaging in a match of chess or simply relaxing in diverse space with soaring ceilings and chandeliers.

The private area duals as an extension of seating for the main restaurant and it will be used on weekends for live music “Jazz – Blues” or can be used as a unique, warm, intimate space for private parties, celebrations or any corporate needs. Small plates offerings include Cauliflower FrittoGrilled OctopusGrilled Chili PeppersSesame Feta and Falafel ($4.95 – $16.95). Inventive salads range from Beet & Spinach with goat cheese and walnuts to Kale Caesarwith shaved Parmesan and pita croutons to the classic Greek with feta and Kalamata olives topped off with your choice of grilled chicken, shrimp or salmon. Highlights include Eggs Élysées- three organic eggs, feta and fries or traditional Souvlaki – chicken, pork, beef or lamb served with country salad, fries and tzatziki ($14.95 – $18.95.) Delicious, shareable platters for two or more include the tasty Seafood Platter with delicately fried calamari, grilled shrimp and octopus, salmon kefte, mussels, and clams at $45.95 or the perfectly prepared Mixed Grille – a combination of beef, chicken, lamb and pork Souvlaki served with a loukaniko sausage at $34.95.
