Nigerian Founder Creates 1st Tech Summit for Women of Color in Philly

HUE Tech Summit has announced its first round of all-star speakers who will take the stage this Spring. For its second annual summit, former Chief Digital Officer of Department of Education and tEQuitable founder, Lisa Gelobter, will serve as the opening keynote speaker. Backstage Capital founder, Arlan Hamilton, will take part in a fireside chat.

The eventful and action-packed one-day conference, set to kickoff Philly Tech Week on Friday, May 3 at the CIC Building, will be hosted by TV personality, Desi Sanchez, of Latination. The Summit’s impressive speaker lineup will also include with small business expert Melinda Emerson, investor-author-entrepreneur, Sian Morson, The Latinista founder, Yai Vargas, with even more speakers to be announced soon.

Founded in 2017 by Jumoke Dada, HUE Tech Summit is powered by Tech Women Network, an online platform and resource also founded by Dada that connects tech-savvy women. The inaugural Summit was the first conference in the Delaware Valley (Delaware, Pennsylvania, and South New Jersey region) created to educate, elevate and empower women of color in tech.

“I saw a need to create an experience for women of color who are technologists. I attend a lot of conference and I notice that most were focused on startups. I didn’t find many options for women like myself who have technical skills and are entrepreneurs particularly in Philadelphia.  HUE Tech Summit is that solution,” says HUE Tech Summit Founder, Jumoke Dada. “I am elated about this upcoming year’s Summit and the reception it has received. It’s more than a conference, it’s an experience that will provide women of color in tech with access to more resources, networking opportunities, and inspiration to help them thrive both personally and professionally.”

Last year, HUE Tech Summit leaned into the theme of “No More Hidden Figures” by identifying and highlighting women in tech within the region. This year’s theme will leverage teaching attendees about entrepreneurship and new technologies while gaining insights and knowledge from industry experts on how to remain marketable in the ever-changing tech industry. In addition, they will enjoy exclusive networking and brand experiences.
