The Long Island (NY) Chapter of The Links Inc. Attracts Long Island Students To STEAMFest: Ignite Your Flight

The Long Island (NY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. hosted STEAMFest: Ignite Your Flight -Putting STEAM in Motion this past Sunday, November 17, 2019 for an educational and fun-filled event held  at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Garden City, NY.

Students and parents were treated to entertainment, a science presentation and lunch provided by the Long Island Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. More than 200 attendees filled the atrium of the Cradle of Aviation. The atrium was also the site of student’s work that focused on science, the arts, math and technology.

Invited guests included the former New York State Legislator, Earlene Hooper- Hill, and a representative from the office of Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Heampstead- D. who presented Link Judy Chambers, president of the Long Island Chapter of The Links, Incorporated,  with a proclamation .Guest speaker, Dr. Darrell Baynes, educated, stimulated and motivated the  middle and high school students to soar, equipped with a powerful new set of wings, enriched by their ingenuity, innovation, and imagination. Dr. Steven Lindo of Springboard Incubators, Inc, engaged students and demonstrated the projects of the NSBE Jr. students that are being sponsored by the Long Island Links.

STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math – represents the five core disciplines critical to the development of America’s current technological innovations and those of the future. This event was open to the community and was designed to bring 7th through 12th graders to the Cradle of Aviation Museum for an afternoon of entertainment and interactive STEAMFest activities.
