Dermatologist Dr. Camille Verovic is the founder of Girl+Hair, an innovative personal hair care brand.

Because of her busy schedule, Verovic often turned to protective styling to deal with her natural hair. For years, she’s worn protective styles, but she struggled to properly maintain her hair while wearing hair extensions or braids resulting in extensive hair breakage.

Based on her personal frustration and armed with her medical knowledge and desire to find the best ingredients for optimal scalp health, she created Under Hair Care, a novel scalpcare line now found in Target, Urban Outfitters, Amazon, and Harmon Face Values.

Verovic is also the founder of Girl + Hair. A former marketing professional turned doctor, she sought out to find healthy products to care for her own natural hair after her “big chop.”

When Verovic realized there was simply no natural hair care product specifically created to maintain and grow my natural hair while it was put away in a braided protective style, she had an idea. “For years, I was wearing protective styles but I always found it difficult to properly cleanse and moisturize my natural hair while wearing hair extensions, resulting in dry and brittle hair and experiencing extensive breakage. Furthermore, I understood that maintaining my natural hair should be easy and more convenient. In fact, ‘wash day’ should never take all day,” says her her company’s website.

Verovic resides in New York City with her husband and business partner and her young daughter. She is also a physician who is passionate about medical dermatology in underserved communities.
