WYANDANCH COMMUNITY IS GEARING UP TO CELEBRATE JUNETEENTH WITH A STREET FESTIVAL AND KICK-OFF SUMMER READING PROGRAM

On Saturday, June 19, 2021, 11:00AM-3:00 PM the Wyandanch Public Library welcomes the Community to the Juneteenth Street Festival, with live events, vendors, culture, and fun all day.

Juneteenth Events feature:

  • 10:00 AM, Pre-event remote ZOOM online movement class with Dr. Shani Ojukwu Mantenso to support the unification and liberation of mind, body, and spirit for people of all ages. ZOOM ID: 933 8269 4762
  • 11:00 AM, Gullah/Geechee Cooking Demo with recipes for you to try at home.  
  • 1:30 PM, Sounds By Roz Brown. A special presentation to be made by Kimberly Jean-Pierre, NYS Assemblywoman (District 11) to the Library is scheduled for 12:30 PM.

Rich Schaffer, Town Supervisor, Town of Babylon, will greet event goers attending the Juneteenth festival. Masks and Social distancing are required at the Juneteenth Festival.

The Summer Reading Kickoff Event by Long Island STEAM GROUP happens on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, 6:00 PM.

The 60-minute show brings dry ice storms galore and includes a mystical shower of gas bubbles and a burst of disappearing fire! Everyone will be mesmerized by the best science show in town happening outside at the Library.

The Wyandanch Public Library Summer Reading Program extends from June 28t to September 4, 2021. Sign up in person at the kickoff or online at www.WyandanchLibrary.org via Read Squared to join the reading group (all ages—adults and children). Readers of all ages are encouraged to join and win prizes from reading! Prizes are limited so Sign up & read!
