When it comes to stories of romantic relationship issues captured on paper and/or digital, a new book called “The Woman Tells,” takes the whole topic to new levels.
Penned by Chicago native Karla Davis-Luster, “The Woman Tells” – her debut novel – explores the world of love between people of color, which to the author, is a love that is like none other.
“Black love is the most powerful and the strongest love two people could ever have – not taking anything away from other races,” says Davis-Luster. “Black love is based on several principles – respect, honor, loyalty, support and code. When you find those factors in a soulmate, the love becomes deeper. It’s one of the most powerful things one can have once it enters their lives.”
Yet when this level of love involves outside forces, that’s where “The Woman Tells” goes into an area which may seem, let’s say, complicated but with its own codes. “What I do within the book is not only explain what each character is doing but why,” explains Davis-Luster. “I want the reader to fully understand the mode of operation the couple as well as the other man and the other woman are coming from and what each wants within their own world when it comes to relationships.”
