From gripping dramas to spine-chilling horror, from thought-provoking narratives on motherhood and choice to heart-warming love stories, this year’s festival is a testament to the incredible talent and creativity of women filmmakers. We’re thrilled to showcase such an exciting lineup of films that highlight the complexities and richness of the human experience. This festival is a must-see for anyone who loves great cinema and wants to support the important work of women in the film industry.”
Female Voices Rock programmer and producer Maria Akay shares, “We’re excited to produce a platform that not only highlights the incredible work of women behind and in front of the camera, but to celebrate their work in person and continue to grow this network of talented filmmakers. The lineup features over 30 short films, including all the projects from NALIP’s inaugural Latino Lens: Narrative Short Film Incubator for Women of Color, which is sponsored by Netflix. This includes Eileen Alvarez’s Mama Retreat, Caroline Guo’s Firecracker, Eunice Levis’ Ro and the Stardust, and Angelita Mendoza’s The Blue Drum. The Female Voices Rock team hopes the festival is a springboard for all our filmmakers for the next great step in their careers.”
