May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and while all communities experience mental health issues, the Black community suffers from an increased rate of mental health concerns. In fact, 25% of Black people seek mental health treatment when needed compared to 40% of White people, and the care they receive is often compromised. They are also significantly less likely to be included in mental health research and less likely to have access to mental health services.
Luckily, NOWINCLUDED is working to solve this issue by providing education and resources that help communities of color take control of their mental health. By encouraging community members to share their stories and providing them with a platform to do so, NOWINCLUDED is creating a support system for people of color so that no person is left feeling alone on their mental health journey.
Now is the time to empower the Black community to make better-informed mental health decisions: to take control of their mental health, to shape their futures, and to shape future generations.
