The 2023 NFL season is nearly upon us, and the football fans of the greatest city in the world are awaiting it with bated breath. Both teams have made some significant signings in both the draft and post-season free agency. Will either team make the playoffs or secure a spot at Super Bowl LVII? Let’s investigate the comings and goings, and see what chances either team has next season.
The Giant Season Ahead
Last season was surprising for the Giants. They finished their football year with a decent record of 9-7-1 but also an unfortunate divisional-round loss to the Eagles. The Giants are hoping to build on their surprising success and take a step forward in 2023. The team has made some smart moves during the offseason, bringing in talented playmakers like Paris Campbell (Wide Receiver) and Darren Waller (Tight End). They have also secured long-term deals with important players like quarterback Daniel Jones and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.
This is a solid foundation for the team to build upon, but the good news doesn’t end there. The absence of veteran quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady from the National Football Conference will work in the Giants’ favor. This should clear their route to the postseason now that two of the biggest names in football are no longer playing in the conference.
Most sportsbooks have them as the third favorite or better to win the NFC East with moneyline odds at about +1700. It may be a little too early to place a wager on the Giants, but you can visit Play Live for the best online casino live games to get you in the mood for the new season. By the time of the first kick-off of the conference, you could have built up a little pot to wager with. The Giant’s Super Bowl winning odds are currently at +4500 moneyline, which could be a fun bet that could turn a few dollars into a few hundred.
Aaron And The Jets
When Aaron Rodgers announced his intention to play for the Jets, the odds of them winning the Lombardi Trophy dropped from 13/1 to 12/1. It might not seem like much, but it is a sign that NFL insiders are looking at the Jets a little differently now. Currently, they are sixth placed favorites in the rankings to win Super Bowl LVIII.
The Jets already had plenty of existing talent on their roster, but the addition of Rodgers makes them a much more formidable team in the AFC East. It may be a bit much to expect them to win the Super Bowl just because Aaron Rodgers is in their ranks, but he does make a positive impact on their odds of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy in February. Do not get your hopes up too soon, however, the competition from the other NFL teams is still very strong in spite of A-Rod switching one green jersey for another.
Aaron Rodgers will arguably be facing the toughest challenge of his career in the AFC East. Opponents like Josh Allen and the Bills, and a talented Miami Dolphins team who added star cornerback Jalen Ramsey during the offseason, will not make life easy in NYC for him. The Buffalo Bills lost some important players to free agency and starting quarterback for the Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa has injuries that are causing concern in Florida. The division will be very competitive in the 2023 season.
NYC And The NFL
The city’s football rivalry has died down in recent years. There could be many reasons for it, and most notable is both the Giant’s and the Jet’s substandard performances over the last decade. It has been more than ten years since the New York Giants won Super Bowl XLVI and the Jets are still chasing their second win since 1969. There were men on the moon last time the Gang Green reached the biggest game in world sports.
In reality, any New Yorker would be happy if either team showed some of the grit and determination the people of the city are famous for and won a conference or reached the Super Bowl. The Jets have given the Giants a helping hand by tempting Rodgers away from Green Bay. This makes the NFC East a little easier on them by hamstringing one of its strongest teams. He is a big bonus for the Jets too. They could do with an experienced and respected quarterback to lead the team to new heights.
Next season looks promising for both New York teams. There are some challenges ahead, to be sure, but these two New York-based teams both have the rosters for a strong showing. When the regular season begins fans will be on the edge of their seats to see how these teams perform.
