he Alliance for Coney Island, with assistance from Councilman Ari Kagan, is excited to announce the 2023 Summer Flicks on the Beach series lineup. This free bi-weekly series will take place every other Monday night from June to August in the heart of the iconic Coney Island Amusement District with views of the world-famous Wonder Wheel as your backdrop. This year, attendees can expect to see a variety of genres, including the 1979 classic – “The Warriors,” a film about a street gang known as The Warriors who must fight their way from the Bronx to their home turf on Coney Island and the 2023 Animated Mega-Hit- “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” where you will follow Brooklyn plumber, Mario and travel through the Mushroom Kingdom to find Mario’s brother, Luigi, and to save the world from a ruthless fire-breathing Koopa named Bowser.
Easily accessible by public transportation, movies are held on the beach at West 12th Street beginning at sunset. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring their blankets or chairs. There is plenty to do in Coney Island before the show, grab a bite to eat at the original Nathan’s Famous, take a ride on the New York City Landmark Cyclone Rollercoaster, visit the recently expanded New York Aquarium to learn about our local marine life or go for a walk along the historic boardwalk.
