The platform, which aims to bridge the healthcare access gap, allows users to search for Black healthcare providers based on location and specific needs. The directory includes detailed profiles of healthcare professionals across various specialties, all of whom are dedicated to addressing the unique health concerns of Black patients. Listings are free for healthcare professionals, fostering greater accessibility for providers in independent practices.
This expansion comes at a time when health disparities continue to impact Black communities, with studies showing that patients experience better health outcomes when treated by providers who share their racial or ethnic background. Find a Black Doctor aims to alleviate systemic biases within the healthcare system, fostering trust and improving overall health outcomes by connecting patients to qualified Black healthcare providers, no matter where they are located—from Atlanta to Alaska.
Founder Dr. Dina Strachan, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City, emphasizes the importance of making healthcare accessible across the country. “Despite technological advances, it can still be challenging to find the care you need,” she says. “Having traveled to all 50 states, I’ve seen firsthand the varied challenges to healthcare access.”
The platform encourages both healthcare providers and patients to contribute to the directory by submitting recommendations for Black doctors and practices. As Find A Black Doctor continues to grow, its commitment remains strong: ensuring equitable healthcare access for every Black person in America.
