Chilean comedy star Fabrizio Copano is taking his talents to a new stage—and a new language. From The Future, his debut English-language comedy special, premiered exclusively on 800 Pound Gorilla Media on July 14. The special will become widely available on all major streaming and sales platforms beginning July 29.
Copano, already a household name in Latin America, delivers a fast-paced, culturally rich stand-up set that dives deep into his experiences with identity, fatherhood, and the hilarious, often confusing challenges of living between two worlds. From The Future captures his signature mix of self-deprecating humor, heartfelt storytelling, and millennial anxiety, told with the kind of slightly panicked smile only an immigrant comic navigating U.S. citizenship could perfect.
“This special is also about claiming a new identity while trying not to lose the old one,” Copano says in a press release. “I became a U.S. citizen soon after completing this special thanks to a joke about the president that made me think, ‘Okay, before I drop this special, maybe I should make sure I can actually stay in the country.’”
Copano began his comedy career two decades ago in Chile, where he and his friends essentially created a stand-up scene from scratch. Drawing inspiration from American comics like Eddie Murphy and Lewis Black, he started performing in coffee shops and steadily rose to become one of Latin America’s most acclaimed comedic voices. He has released two Spanish-language specials and was the first South American to film an original special for Netflix.
Now based in New York City, Copano is a regular at the Comedy Cellar and has appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden. He was featured in the Just For Laughs 2022 New Faces showcase and was named to CBS’s 2025 Comics to Watch list. His acting and writing credits include El Club de la Comedia, El Late de Copano, and La Culpa es de Colón for Comedy Central Latin America, as well as the Chilean box office hit Barrio Universitario.
