Thief of Joy blends Soresi’s signature theatricality with deeply personal storytelling. Drawing on his experiences as a theatre kid turned theatre major, Soresi weaves together intimate anecdotes about his relationship, career, and his parents’ divorce, all delivered in the animated style the New York Times described as “silkily feline physicality and frenetic gesticulation.” The special was filmed over four sold-out shows in February 2025 at the Elysian Theatre in Los Angeles.

Co-produced by Soresi’s manager Tovah Silbermann, a 2024 THR Rising Exec, and Matt Schuler, Thief of Joy showcases Soresi’s energetic stage presence and sharp societal observation. Executive producers included Gianmarco Soresi, Silbermann, Jordan Levy, and Alex Goodman, with associate producers Sabrina Diresta and Kyle Stivers, and cinematography by Jordan Levy.

In addition to his YouTube success, Soresi has gained acclaim for appearances on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Comedy Central’s Don’t Tell, The Real Housewives of New York, and Netflix’s Verified Stand-Up. He continues to perform internationally on his ongoing Drama King Tour, maintains a recurring new material show in New York City called The Silver Lining, and hosts the Headgum podcast The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi alongside co-host Russell Daniels and special guests.

Soresi’s rapid rise has garnered praise from NPR, The New York Times, Vulture, Variety, Esquire, The Atlantic, Buzzfeed, and ABC News. Surpassing one million followers on YouTube and TikTok, he also won the crowd work episode of Dropout: Game Changer, further cementing his reputation as one of the most dynamic and relatable comedians working today.

With Thief of Joy, Gianmarco Soresi delivers a comedy special that is equal parts theatrical, personal, and wildly entertaining, solidifying his presence as a fresh, energetic voice in stand-up comedy and digital entertainment. Fans can watch the special now on Soresi’s YouTube channel.
