Garcelle Beauvais is deepening her creative imprint at Lifetime, stepping into a new phase of her partnership with the network as both star and executive producer on two upcoming films that blend urgent social storytelling with heartfelt romance. The celebrated actor, producer, author, and longtime television presence continues to expand her behind-the-scenes role while delivering the kind of compelling onscreen performances that have made her a fixture in entertainment for decades.
The first project, Taken at a Truck Stop: A Black Girl Missing Movie, premiered October 25 (embargoed). The film marks a powerful new chapter in Lifetime’s acclaimed Black Girl Missing franchise, which spotlights the disproportionate media attention given to missing girls of color and the everyday heroes who fight to bring them home. Beauvais portrays Kai, a determined trucker and co-owner of her family’s company whose world fractures when her neurodivergent niece, Toy, vanishes after being targeted by an online predator. With law enforcement reaching a standstill, Kai leans on her trucking network, social media reach, and a fiercely loyal community to launch a high-stakes grassroots search.
The film continues Lifetime’s collaboration with the Black and Missing Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness, supporting affected families, and educating communities on prevention and response. The original Black Girl Missing earned wide recognition—including a Gracie Award, an NAACP Image Award nomination, an Astra Award, and nominations from NAMIC Vision and the Black Reel Awards—setting a high bar for this newest installment. Beauvais’ role, both in front of the camera and as an executive producer, reinforces her commitment to storytelling that highlights real-world issues affecting underserved communities.
Beauvais is also returning to a fan-favorite character in Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted 2 Love, the sequel to last year’s hit romantic film. She steps back into the role of Ava, a celebrated chef whose world becomes unexpectedly complicated when her younger ex arrives at a major culinary event in Ireland—with a new partner in tow. As Ava navigates simmering emotions against a lush international backdrop, the film promises a blend of warmth, humor, and grown-woman romance. Production begins this fall, with Beauvais sharing executive producer duties alongside McMillan and Undaunted Content.
With these two projects, Beauvais continues to evolve as a multidimensional force in Hollywood—one committed to elevating stories of resilience, love, and representation while shaping the creative vision behind them.
