With entertainment representing 4.7% of the average American’s yearly spending, WalletHub has released its 2025 ranking of the Most Fun Cities in the U.S., evaluating more than 180 cities across 65 metrics to identify the best spots for affordable, year-round enjoyment. From fitness clubs to movie tickets to brewery hours, the report highlights cities that offer residents diverse, wallet-friendly ways to play, explore, and stay active.
Leading the list is Las Vegas, Nevada, earning its top spot thanks to an extraordinary range of attractions, restaurants, and nightlife. The city has the most restaurants and playgrounds per capita and is a hub for music festivals, comedy shows, dance clubs, and casinos. Las Vegas also offers unique advantages like widespread public drinking and low-cost dining options—making it as accessible for residents as it is famous with tourists.
WalletHub notes that the top cities are not only tourist destinations but also provide year-round fun for locals. Orlando (2), Miami (3), Atlanta (4), and New Orleans (5) round out the top five, offering abundant indoor and outdoor activities, from theaters and sports facilities to arcades and cultural festivals. These cities combine excitement with affordability, making entertainment options accessible and supporting residents’ mental health and social well-being.
Other highlights from the report reveal surprising variations in city amenities:
- San Francisco, Boston, Jersey City, and Columbia, Maryland, have the highest proportion of residents with access to walkable parks—9.1 times higher than Fayetteville, North Carolina.
- San Francisco also boasts the most dance clubs per capita, 73.5 times more than Henderson, Nevada.
