Delta announced plans to grow its winter service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and several popular European destinations, adding both seasonal and year-round flights to meet increasing demand outside the traditional summer travel season.

Among the most notable changes is Delta’s decision to make service to Edinburgh, Scotland, a year-round offering. Beginning next winter, the airline will operate three weekly flights between New York-JFK and Edinburgh during January and February, giving travelers continued access to one of the United Kingdom’s most historic and culturally rich cities.

Delta is also increasing service to Catania, Sicily. The route will operate up to seven times weekly during November, December, and March, offering more flexibility for travelers interested in exploring southern Italy beyond the busy summer months. Located on Sicily’s eastern coast, Catania serves as a gateway to Mount Etna, picturesque beaches, and the island’s renowned culinary scene.

Meanwhile, service to Porto, Portugal, will continue into the late fall and early winter. Delta plans to offer three weekly flights between New York and Porto during November and December, extending access to one of Europe’s fastest-growing tourism destinations. Porto has gained popularity in recent years for its historic architecture, world-famous port wine, and scenic riverfront views.

In addition to expanding service, Delta is making upgrades to the onboard experience for travelers flying between New York and Amsterdam. All flights on the route will transition to the Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, known within the airline as the A339. The move is designed to provide a more consistent premium travel experience across all Amsterdam flights.

The A330-900neo features Delta One suites, premium seating options, upgraded cabin interiors, and enhanced passenger amenities aimed at improving comfort on long-haul international journeys.

The schedule changes reflect Delta’s broader strategy of offering customers more travel opportunities throughout the year rather than concentrating service during peak summer months.

For New York-area travelers, the expanded schedule means greater flexibility for winter vacations, holiday travel, and off-season European adventures. Whether visiting Scotland’s historic capital, exploring Sicily’s Mediterranean charm, discovering Portugal’s coastal beauty, or connecting through Amsterdam, passengers will have more ways to reach Europe during the colder months.

The additions further strengthen Delta’s international presence from JFK, one of the airline’s key global gateways and a major hub for transatlantic travel.
