The battle for the Iron Throne is far from over. HBO has announced that the highly anticipated third season of House of the Dragon will premiere on June 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will also be available for streaming on HBO Max.
The new season will consist of eight episodes, with new installments airing weekly through the season finale on August 9. As tensions continue to escalate within House Targaryen, viewers can expect even more political intrigue, shifting alliances, and dragon-fueled warfare as the acclaimed fantasy drama enters its next chapter.
Based on Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, House of the Dragon is set nearly 200 years before the events of HBO’s blockbuster series Game of Thrones. The series chronicles the rise and eventual fracture of House Targaryen, one of the most powerful dynasties in the history of Westeros.
Season three arrives following a dramatic second season that left rival factions poised for all-out conflict. With the kingdom divided and loyalties tested, the struggle for power threatens to reshape the future of the Seven Kingdoms.
The series features an ensemble cast led by Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, and Tom Glynn-Carney. Returning cast members also include Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.
