The Cape Playhouse is marking a major milestone in 2026 with a centennial season packed with Broadway talent, beloved musicals and star-studded casts that promise to make it one of the theater’s most memorable summers yet.

Known as America’s longest-running continuously operating professional summer theater, the historic venue in Dennis, Massachusetts, will celebrate its 100th anniversary by welcoming acclaimed performers from Broadway, television and touring productions to its stage.

Artistic Director Eric Rosen said the landmark season honors the Playhouse’s remarkable legacy while embracing a new generation of performers.

“The Cape Playhouse has brought some of the most legendary actors to our stage—from Bette Davis to Betty White, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Eartha Kitt, Danny DeVito and Tallulah Bankhead,” Rosen said. “On the eve of our 100th birthday, I’m so proud that the Broadway community still has a place to create great work in the most iconic summer theater in the country.”

The musical lineup begins with Stephen Sondheim’s beloved fantasy Into the Woods, opening June 24. The production stars Javier Muñoz, best known for Hamilton and In the Heights, as the Baker, alongside Nick Adams as Cinderella’s Prince and the Wolf, Alex Finke as the Baker’s Wife, Christine Toy Johnson as Jack’s Mother, Joe Serafini, Pearl Sun and a cast of accomplished Broadway performers.

The season continues in July with the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray. Fan favorite Alex Michaels, known to many as Alexis Michelle from RuPaul’s Drag Race, takes on the iconic role of Edna Turnblad. The cast also includes Ben Jackson Walker, Keisha Gilles and several other Broadway veterans bringing the vibrant 1960s musical to life.

In August, audiences can revisit the halls of North Shore High School with Mean Girls, Tina Fey’s hit musical adaptation of the beloved film. The production features Caroline Siegrist as Regina George alongside Scarlett Diaz, Danielle Kelsey and Lizzy Tucker.

Closing the season is the charming musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, directed by Broadway favorite Claybourne Elder. The production stars Julia Murney as Rona Lisa Peretti, Viveca Chow as Marcy Park and Matthew Wilkas as Vice Principal Douglas Panch.

Before the main season begins, audiences can also enjoy Mozart to Pop Chart, starring Nat Zegree, through June 20.

For nearly a century, The Cape Playhouse has served as a launching pad for theatrical talent while attracting some of the biggest names in entertainment. As it enters its second century, the iconic Cape Cod institution continues its tradition of delivering Broadway-quality productions in an intimate summer theater setting, offering audiences an unforgettable season of music, laughter and live performance.
