New Yorkers looking to get moving this summer can travel around the world without leaving Midtown Manhattan.
“Midtown Dance with Talia,” a free weekly outdoor dance series at Greeley Square Park, invites New Yorkers of all experience levels to learn a variety of international dance styles while enjoying the outdoors. The series takes place Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 23.
Presented by the 34th Street Partnership, the program is hosted by internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Talia Castro-Pozo. The series, titled “Mucho(s) Estilo(s),” highlights dance traditions from around the world, offering participants an opportunity to learn new styles in a casual, community setting.
The 2026 lineup includes nine weekly sessions covering everything from belly dance fusion and Caporales to bachata, authentic jazz, candombe, Brazilian dance, reggaeton, Mexican dances and pachanga.
The series began July 29 with a belly dance fusion session and continued Aug. 5 with Caporales, a Bolivian dance known for its energetic movements. Bachata was featured Aug. 12, followed by authentic jazz Aug. 19 and candombe Aug. 26.
The remaining schedule includes Brazilian dance on Sept. 2, reggaeton on Sept. 9, Mexican dances on Sept. 16 and pachanga on Sept. 23.
Some events also feature DJs, live music and guest programming from organizations including Big Apple Ranch, K-Pulse NYC and Masala Bhangra.
The programming is designed to make dance accessible regardless of previous experience. Participants can attend individual sessions and learn a different style each week, making the series an option for experienced dancers as well as those who have never taken a dance class.
The outdoor setting also gives participants a chance to experience live cultural programming in one of Manhattan’s busiest neighborhoods. Greeley Square Park, located near Herald Square, provides a central gathering place for residents, workers and visitors.
Castro-Pozo, whose career spans dance and choreography, leads the weekly sessions and introduces participants to the fundamentals and cultural traditions behind each style.
With each class focusing on a different genre, “Midtown Dance with Talia” offers more than a weekly workout. The series uses dance as a way to bring people together, explore global cultures and create a shared experience in the heart of New York City.
The remaining sessions are free and begin at 6 p.m. at Greeley Square Park. More information about the series and programming is available through the 34th Street Partnership.
