Luxury travel is taking a more adventurous turn as travelers increasingly look beyond traditional sightseeing for experiences that combine physical activity, wellness and deeper connections to a destination.

Up Norway is tapping into that trend with a new seven-day, small-group cycling journey through Norway’s dramatic fjord country scheduled for May 22-28, 2027.
Limited to just 12 riders, the intimate journey will take cyclists through some of Norway’s most spectacular landscapes, including the Sunnmøre Alps, the Geiranger-Trollstigen National Scenic Route and the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord.
The itinerary is designed to combine challenging cycling with the comforts expected from a luxury vacation. Riders will stay at premium properties, enjoy farm-to-table meals and have opportunities to relax with sauna sessions, yoga and outdoor bathing.
One of the journey’s signature experiences will be cycling Trollstigen, a famous mountain road featuring 11 dramatic switchbacks. The route offers both a physical challenge and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Cyclists will also travel through Norangsdalen, known as the “Queen’s Route,” a narrow valley surrounded by dramatic alpine scenery. Another highlight will take riders onto the waters of Geirangerfjord, where they can experience the UNESCO-listed landscape from a different perspective while passing the Seven Sisters waterfalls.
The journey is designed to make adventure travel more accessible without sacrificing convenience. A dedicated support vehicle will accompany the group, carrying luggage and providing nutrition and mechanical assistance along the route. Norwegian Fara bicycles will also be provided for participants.
The combination reflects a broader shift in luxury travel, where high-end experiences increasingly focus on participation rather than simply observation. Instead of viewing Norway’s landscapes from a tour bus or luxury hotel, travelers will experience them directly from the saddle, while still having access to premium accommodations and wellness experiences at the end of each day.
The small-group format also provides an opportunity for travelers to experience the destination in a more personal way, with fewer people and greater flexibility than a traditional group tour.
For Up Norway, the journey represents a growing interest in what can be described as active luxury — travel that brings together adventure, comfort and wellness while allowing visitors to engage more deeply with the places they explore.
The May 2027 cycling journey offers travelers an opportunity to experience Norway’s fjord country through movement, from mountain roads and alpine valleys to waterfalls and deep blue fjords.
For cyclists seeking a vacation that goes beyond sightseeing, the journey promises an unusual combination: the exhilaration of a demanding ride followed by the pleasures of Norwegian hospitality, wellness and cuisine.
