New York City’s streets will once again belong to cyclists when the TD Five Boro Bike Tour returns on May 2, 2027. Bike New York has officially opened registration for the 49th annual event, with early bird pricing available for a limited time.
The 40-mile, car-free ride takes cyclists through all five boroughs, offering participants the chance to experience some of New York City’s most iconic streets, bridges and landmarks without automobile traffic. With approximately 32,000 riders each year, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour is the largest cycling event in the United States and the world’s biggest charitable bike ride.
Co-produced with the New York City Department of Transportation and supported by title sponsor TD, the tour has brought cyclists together since 1977. Riders of all ages and experience levels participate, with the route culminating in a Finish Festival on Staten Island.
Last year’s event attracted cyclists from all 50 states, more than 40 countries and every New York City borough. Among the participants was Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who became the first sitting New York City mayor to ride the entire course. The event also included 100 New York City schoolchildren who learned to ride through Bike New York’s free bicycle education programs, as well as internationally known DJ Benny Benassi.
Beyond the ride itself, the event supports Bike New York’s year-round efforts to expand access to cycling and promote safer streets. Every dollar raised through the tour helps fund programs including free bike education, workforce development and advocacy.
In 2026, Bike New York’s Bike Path workforce program achieved a 100% job-placement rate for formerly incarcerated participants trained to become bike mechanics. Recycle-a-Bicycle also opened a new Brooklyn location, while free cycling programs reached more than 30,000 adult and youth cyclists across the five boroughs.
“The TD Five Boro Bike Tour is one of those experiences that reminds you why New York City is unlike any place in the world,” said Ken Podziba, President and CEO of Bike New York. “For one unforgettable day, 32,000 people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities come together to ride 40 miles through all five boroughs on streets completely free of cars, creating memories that will last a lifetime. And every rider is helping make a difference, because the Tour supports Bike New York’s work year-round to get more people on bikes, create opportunities and make our streets safer for everyone. I can’t wait to welcome everyone back on May 2.”
The 2027 tour will also introduce a first-ever national jersey design competition. Public submissions are open through September 30, with finalists selected by Bike New York and Primal Wear. Public voting is expected to take place in late October, and the winning Rider’s Choice jersey will be available for purchase ahead of the tour.
Early bird registration is $160, with pricing increasing to $170 after the early bird period.
