Beth Stelling’s New Comedy Special The Landlord Special Drops

Comedian and writer Beth Stelling came back with a brand-new stand-up special, The Landlord Special, which premiered exclusively on Veeps on July 2. The special, which promises a hilarious ride through the absurdities of renting and real-life landlord horror stories.

Filmed at Denver’s iconic Comedy Works, widely regarded as one of the best comedy clubs in the country, The Landlord Special delivers 30 minutes of smart, punchy stand-up capped off by a story-rich finale about nosy, overbearing landlords. “If you’ve ever had to pay irritating lunatics in exchange for shelter, then this is the special for you,” Stelling says. Her goal? That everyone watching laughs loud enough to make their downstairs neighbor jealous—and maybe even starts thinking about saving for a mortgage.

Beth Stelling’s sharp wit and unique storytelling style have earned her a loyal following. Her 2023 Netflix special If You Didn’t Want Me Then was a critical hit, with The New York Times calling her “a meticulous professional in her prime,” and Vulture praising it as some of her best work to date. She also appeared in Netflix’s The Standups, Comedy Central’s The Half Hour, and the HBO Max special Girl Daddy, executive produced by Conan O’Brien. That debut hour was hailed by The New York Times as “The Best Debut Special of the Year,” adding, “It’s a virtuosic performance, conversational while dense with jokes.”

Following the streaming debut, The Landlord Special will be released in audio format as a comedy album on August 1, distributed by Blonde Medicine and available wherever comedy albums are streamed or sold.

Stelling has made memorable appearances on CONAN, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Don’t Tell Comedy. With The Landlord Special, she brings her signature charm and cutting observational humor to one of the most relatable modern experiences: surviving life as a renter.
