Antigua and Barbuda is setting the stage for an exciting 2026 with a host of new tourism experiences, events, and infrastructure upgrades designed to showcase the twin-island nation’s culture, adventure, and natural beauty. The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) announced the updates, highlighting both community-led initiatives and enhancements to resorts, marinas, and transport hubs.
“The islands are fully open and welcoming,” said Colin C. James, CEO of ABTA in a press release. “For 2026, we are proud to offer experiences that provide visitors with authentic encounters while enhancing the quality of our tourism offerings.”
Among the most anticipated events is the Antigua Racing Cup from April 9-12, a new addition to the nation’s famed yachting calendar that also features Antigua Sailing Week and the RORC Caribbean 600. Sailing enthusiasts can enjoy turquoise bays and strong trade winds while competing in a month-long celebration of Caribbean yacht racing.
For fitness and adventure seekers, the AUA Rohrman Trail & Swim Fest on April 11-12 delivers trail races, open water swims, and kids’ triathlons along scenic routes and pristine beaches. This festival blends challenging outdoor activity with family-friendly competition and highlights Antigua’s natural landscapes.
Food lovers will celebrate Antigua and Barbuda Culinary Month in May, featuring Restaurant Week and the FAB – Food, Art & Beverage Fest. Special guest chefs from the Caribbean diaspora, including Nina Compton, Andi Oliver, and Claude Lewis, will showcase local ingredients and culinary heritage, reinforcing the destination’s reputation as a top Caribbean foodie hotspot.
The island also marks the 10th anniversary of Run in Paradise in May, offering Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K routes along coastal paths and historic Fort James Beach, while Antigua Carnival from July 25 to August 4 brings vibrant parades, fetes, and live music to the streets.
Resort and infrastructure upgrades include the boutique Moon Gate hotel, refurbishments at Hermitage Bay and Curtain Bluff, and expanded experiences at Shirley Heights Lookout, Rum in the Ruins, and new dining options like Fat Urchin in Jolly Harbour. Adventure tourism is boosted by Rock Adventures’ Transparent Boat and Crystal Kayak experiences, offering unique marine exploration without getting wet.
Enhancements at V.C. Bird International Airport and the new Antigua Cruise Port terminal will support increased visitor arrivals with modern amenities, pools, and cabanas.
With these initiatives, Antigua and Barbuda continues to blend cultural authenticity, adventure, and luxury for travelers seeking a memorable Caribbean getaway.
