Fans who missed out on tickets to one of Broadway’s most anticipated events of 2026 will still have a chance to be part of the celebration. Following an overwhelming response that saw tickets disappear within minutes, organizers of Rent: The 30th Anniversary Concert have announced a livestream option that will allow audiences around the world to experience the historic event.
The one-night-only concert performance will take place October 26 at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre and serve as a major fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Now, thanks to a newly announced livestream partnership, theater lovers everywhere can join the celebration from home.
Livestream tickets are currently available for $30, giving fans access to a milestone event honoring one of Broadway’s most influential and beloved musicals.
The anniversary concert marks 30 years since Jonathan Larson’s groundbreaking rock musical transformed American theater. Since its debut in 1996, Rent has become a cultural phenomenon, inspiring generations of audiences with its powerful themes of love, community, loss and resilience.
The special event will reunite key figures from the original production, including acclaimed director Michael Greif, who helmed the original Broadway staging and earned multiple Tony Award nominations throughout his career. Original music supervisor Tim Weil also returns, joined by the entire original Rent band.
The concert will feature members of the original cast alongside special guest performers, with additional casting announcements expected later this summer.
Broadway Cares Executive Director Danny Whitman said the extraordinary demand for tickets demonstrates the enduring impact of Larson’s work.
“We’ve been floored by the overwhelming response to our Rent 30th anniversary celebration,” Whitman said. “We’re thrilled to offer a livestream option that makes this historic evening accessible to fans worldwide while helping support critical services for those in need.”
The gala performance will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, one of the nation’s leading nonprofit organizations supporting people living with HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses. Since its founding in 1988, the organization has distributed more than $300 million to healthcare, meal programs and emergency assistance services across the United States.
Originally inspired by Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Bohème, Rent reimagined the story within New York City’s East Village during the AIDS crisis. Its diverse characters, contemporary score and emotional storytelling helped redefine what Broadway could be and introduced musical theater to an entirely new generation.
The anniversary concert’s artwork has also come full circle, featuring contributions from members of the original design team responsible for the musical’s iconic advertising campaign.
Three decades after its debut, Rent continues to resonate with audiences. And now, whether from a Broadway seat or a living room halfway around the world, fans will have the opportunity to celebrate a musical that forever changed the landscape of theater and reminded audiences everywhere to measure life in love.
