The American Cinema Editors (ACE) has announced the timeline for the 77th Annual ACE Eddie Awards, with the ceremony scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6, 2027, at UCLA’s historic Royce Hall in Los Angeles.
The annual awards recognize excellence in film and television editing, honoring the professionals whose work shapes stories across feature films, documentaries, television, short films and digital media.
Projects released between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2026, will be eligible for consideration.
“Editing is the invisible art that makes everything else possible, and the ACE Eddie Awards exist to make that work visible,” ACE President Sabrina Plisco said in announcing the upcoming ceremony. “We are proud to bring our community together once again at UCLA’s Royce Hall to honor the editors whose art shapes every story we love.”
In addition to competitive awards, the ceremony will recognize leaders in the film industry through three special honors. Two editors will receive Career Achievement Awards for their contributions to the craft, while the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award will honor a filmmaker for distinguished achievement in filmmaking. The organization will also announce the winner of the Anne V. Coates Student Editing Competition, recognizing emerging editing talent.
ACE is continuing to expand the awards’ eligibility rules to reflect changes in how audiences consume content. Alongside its recently added Short Film category, the organization has broadened eligibility to include projects released on digital platforms such as YouTube.
The updated rules mean editors working on digital-first documentaries, reality programming, variety content and other online productions can compete alongside traditional television and film entries.
According to ACE, all submissions will be judged using the same professional standards regardless of where the content is distributed.
Submissions open on Oct. 1, 2026. An early-bird entry fee of $250 per title or episode will be available through Nov. 23, after which the fee increases to $350. The final submission deadline is Dec. 7, 2026.
Nomination voting begins later that month, with ballots distributed on Dec. 21 and due by Jan. 7, 2027. Nominees will be announced on Jan. 14, followed by an ACE Nominee Cocktail Party on Feb. 4, two days before the awards ceremony.
Long regarded as one of Hollywood’s premier honors for editors, the ACE Eddie Awards often recognize the year’s most acclaimed storytelling across multiple formats. As streaming platforms, social media and digital content continue reshaping the entertainment industry, the organization says its evolving eligibility rules are intended to ensure exceptional editing is recognized wherever audiences are watching.
