More New York Men Are Turning to Hyaluronic Acid for Girth Enhancement

A once-taboo cosmetic procedure for men is receiving increased attention in the New York metropolitan area, as more urologists begin offering hyaluronic acid-based penile girth enhancement.

The minimally invasive procedure involves injecting hyaluronic acid filler beneath the penile skin to increase girth. Unlike surgical enhancement procedures, the treatment does not increase penile length and is generally performed in an outpatient setting.

The growing interest comes as men increasingly seek options that address concerns about appearance, confidence and sexual satisfaction. Through the PhalloFILL network, urologists in markets across the country are offering treatments using hyaluronic acid, including physicians in the New York area.

Medical research suggests the approach warrants continued study. A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis examining hyaluronic acid in urology found that studies generally reported positive outcomes and that complications were uncommon, although researchers noted significant variation in study design and called for more standardized randomized trials.

A separate systematic review published in 2023 found that hyaluronic acid produced significant increases in penile girth compared with polylactic acid in the studies analyzed, while complication rates did not significantly differ between the two materials.

More recent research is continuing to examine the procedure. A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis of penile augmentation procedures found that hyaluronic acid had a lower pooled complication rate than several other approaches, although the researchers emphasized that comparisons between materials remain indirect and that additional high-quality studies are needed.

That distinction is important for prospective patients. While the available evidence is encouraging, penile enhancement is not a procedure consumers should approach casually. A 2024 review of injectable penile enhancement procedures noted that outcomes can be unpredictable and that complications can occur depending on the material and technique used.

For men considering treatment, consultation with a qualified urologist is an important first step. Patients should discuss their goals, medical history, potential complications, expected results and whether they are appropriate candidates.

Hyaluronic acid also has a characteristic that distinguishes it from some permanent materials: it can be broken down with the enzyme hyaluronidase. Recent case research has described the use of hyaluronidase to address residual filler, asymmetry and other issues following penile girth enhancement.

The treatment is also being studied in relation to sexual outcomes. A randomized controlled trial comparing hyaluronic acid and polylactic acid fillers reported increases in girth and improvements in satisfaction, although the study found no significant difference between the two groups in those measures. No serious adverse events were reported in that trial.

As the procedure becomes more visible in New York, the conversation is shifting from taboo to informed medical decision-making. For prospective patients, however, the emphasis remains on realistic expectations, qualified medical providers and understanding both the potential benefits and risks before proceeding.
