Travelers looking to trade packed schedules for rest and relaxation can find plenty of options along South Carolina’s Grand Strand, where spas, yoga studios and wellness experiences offer ways to unwind by the coast.

With September recognized as Self-Care Awareness Month and Labor Day marking the unofficial end of summer, Myrtle Beach is highlighting its wellness offerings as an alternative to the typical busy-season getaway.

“Everyone deserves time to step away from everyday demands and recharge,” Stuart Butler, president of Visit Myrtle Beach, said in a statement. “Slowing down comes naturally in Myrtle Beach, where the rhythm of the waves and breeze through the palm trees set the pace.”

The destination stretches across about 60 miles of beaches, giving visitors opportunities to combine traditional spa treatments with outdoor activities and time near the water.

The newly renovated Awakening Spa at Anderson Ocean Club offers beachfront views from the resort’s fourth floor, along with complimentary valet parking. In North Myrtle Beach, Cinzia Spa at North Beach Resort & Villas features new treatment rooms, a meditation lounge with complimentary herbal detox waters, a 10-person jetted whirlpool and an outdoor patio with a fire pit.

At Spa33 at Kingston Resorts, guests can relax among water features and a tranquility garden before trying treatments such as a Hydrafacial.

Wellness options also extend beyond traditional spa services.

Living Yoga and Wellness offers sound baths designed around resonant sounds and vibrations, while weekend yoga classes conclude with sound-bowl savasana. Sea Yoga offers moonlit group yoga sessions on Myrtle Beach’s beaches as well as daytime classes on the lawn at Crooked Hammock in North Myrtle Beach. Proceeds from the latter support a local animal rescue, with puppies sometimes joining the experience.

In Conway, Rivertown Yoga & Wellness offers classes ranging from beginner and vinyasa yoga to Pilates in an indoor studio surrounded by live oaks.

Visitors seeking a different type of relaxation can try Himalayan Salt Therapy in Myrtle Beach, which features salt caves, halotherapy and an infrared salt sauna.

For a more intense wellness experience, MINDZERO combines sauna sessions with cold plunges as part of hot-and-cold recovery practices.

In Murrells Inlet, Hair Nova Head Spa offers Japanese-inspired scalp and hair treatments, including a 30-minute express option for travelers with limited time.

For visitors who prefer a less structured approach, the Grand Strand’s beaches provide perhaps the simplest wellness experience: slowing down, breathing in the salt air and leaving the itinerary behind.

With its combination of coastal scenery, spa treatments and wellness activities, Myrtle Beach offers travelers numerous ways to turn a weekend into an opportunity to reset.
