Nevis is strengthening its relationships with travel advisors across the Northeast as the Caribbean island seeks to attract more travelers looking for intimate, personalized and high-value vacation experiences.

The Nevis Tourism Authority recently completed its second annual Northeast Summer Showcase, a multi-city sales mission that connected destination representatives with travel professionals across five U.S. markets: Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Boston.

More than 650 travel advisors participated across the five events, according to the tourism authority. Attendees included top-producing advisors affiliated with Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network, Ensemble, Travel Leaders and AAA Travel, among other industry organizations.

Representing the Nevis Tourism Authority were Pheon Jones, director of sales and marketing, and Cyndi Miller Aird, U.S. sales representative. They were joined by representatives from the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.

The showcase featured trade shows, dinners and supplier presentations, giving travel advisors opportunities to connect directly with destination representatives while learning about accommodations, air service, experiences and other tourism developments.

For Nevis, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to build relationships with travel professionals who can introduce the island to clients seeking alternatives to larger Caribbean destinations.

The island, which covers approximately 36 square miles, is known for its natural landscape, historic sites, beaches and relatively low-density tourism environment. Unlike many Caribbean destinations, Nevis has no cruise port or high-rise developments, characteristics that contribute to its boutique positioning.

Travel advisors attending the showcase were introduced to experiences spanning wellness, culinary and agricultural tourism, romance, history, outdoor adventure, festivals and sustainability.

“Travel advisors play an essential role in introducing Nevis to discerning travelers who value authenticity, privacy, and a deeper connection to the places they visit,” said Jones. “The Northeast Summer Showcase allowed us to engage directly with some of the industry’s most influential advisors, share what is new across the island, and provide them with the knowledge and relationships they need to confidently recommend Nevis to their clients.”

The tourism authority developed the Northeast Summer Showcase as the travel industry recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic. The event has since grown into a significant regional travel advisor initiative.

Beyond its tourism offerings, Nevis has a rich historical connection to the United States. The island is the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton and was also the site of Admiral Horatio Nelson’s 18th-century marriage to Frances Nisbet.

The Nevis Tourism Authority says continued engagement with travel advisors will remain an important part of its efforts to expand awareness of the destination and reach travelers interested in personalized Caribbean experiences.

For visitors seeking a quieter island getaway, Nevis offers a combination of beaches, nature, history, culture and small-scale hospitality.
