Dr. JOJO Vitamins Brings Specialist Expertise to Prenatal Nutrition

Choosing a prenatal vitamin can be overwhelming, particularly for women navigating the different nutritional needs that can arise before, during and after pregnancy. Dr. JOJO Vitamins is aiming to simplify that process with a doctor-founded supplement line created by specialists in high-risk obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine.

Launched in 2024 by Dr. Joanne Stone, MD, MS, and Dr. Joshua Copel, MD, Dr. JOJO Vitamins was developed after the physicians identified what they described as a gap in the prenatal vitamin market: a one-capsule-a-day prenatal line formulated by specialists who regularly care for patients experiencing both routine and complex pregnancies.

Rather than offering one formula for an entire pregnancy, Dr. JOJO Vitamins features three stage-specific products covering preconception and the first trimester, the second and third trimesters, and postpartum.

The Preconception & 1st Trimester Vitamins are designed for weeks zero through 13 and contain 1,000 micrograms of folate. According to the company, the formula is intended to support early fetal development and encourage women to begin prenatal supplementation before conception.

The 2nd & 3rd Trimester Vitamins are formulated for weeks 14 through birth, with ingredients intended to support maternal energy, immunity and fetal development.

For new mothers, the Postpartum Vitamins are designed around recovery, energy and lactation. The formula contains a gentler dose of iron, which the company says is intended to help reduce constipation.

Each formula is vegetarian, made in the United States, third-party tested and produced in an FDA-registered facility. The vitamins retail for $39.99 each.

Dr. Stone brings extensive experience in maternal-fetal medicine to the brand. She is the system chair of the Raquel and Jaime Gilinski Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and previously served as director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division and fellowship director for the Mount Sinai Health System.

She also directs the Mount Sinai-Rainbow Clinic, which provides enhanced prenatal care following stillbirth. Dr. Stone is an author of several pregnancy books and hosts the Mount Sinai podcast HERology.

Dr. Copel is a professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences and pediatrics and is recognized for his work in prenatal diagnosis and fetal heart function. He has served as president of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, among other professional organizations.

Together, the physicians have positioned Dr. JOJO Vitamins around a straightforward concept: providing stage-specific prenatal and postpartum nutrition in a single daily capsule, informed by specialists who work directly with expectant mothers.
