Carrie Bloxson has shattered another glass ceiling by becoming the inaugural Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Hachette Book Group (HBG), a leading trade publisher and division of Hachette Livre. This appointment marks a historic milestone as Bloxson becomes the first Black woman to lead HR at HBG, furthering the company’s commitment to innovation, diversity, and inclusion.
In her groundbreaking new role, Bloxson will oversee key areas such as talent development, recruitment, retention, training, office culture, and business processes. She will also continue to champion HBG’s Changing the Story initiative, a cornerstone of the company’s mission to foster inclusivity and ensure that everyone can explore new worlds of ideas, learning, and opportunity through books.
Bloxson’s impressive career spans over two decades, during which she has held leadership positions across industries. Prior to her CHRO appointment, she served as HBG’s and Hachette UK’s inaugural Chief Culture, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, driving transformative initiatives across both companies.
Her multifaceted background includes roles such as Interim CEO and Chief Marketing Officer at various leading organizations. She is also the co-founder of CMOs for Good, an organization composed of marketing leaders dedicated to social impact. Additionally, she has played a pivotal role as a marketing strategist for some of the world’s most iconic brands and entertainment properties, including Bravo TV, MTV, VH1, and Comedy Central.
As Bloxson takes on this influential position, her leadership is expected to further strengthen HBG’s reputation as a forward-thinking publisher and amplify its mission to create an inclusive and dynamic workplace.
