Since its founding in 2018, the Fearless Fund, led by visionary Founder and CEO Arian Simone, has reshaped the venture capital landscape for women of color. As the first VC firm created by women of color, for women of color, the Fearless Fund invests in early-stage, growth-focused businesses led by under-resourced entrepreneurs. In just five years, the firm has invested over $27 million into 44 companies, including breakout successes like Slutty Vegan and The Lip Bar, demonstrating the transformative power of targeted capital and strategic guidance.
Simone’s journey has been marked not only by her entrepreneurial foresight but also by resilience in the face of challenges. In 2023, the Fearless Fund faced a high-profile lawsuit challenging its grant program for Black women entrepreneurs. Over a 13-month legal battle, Simone navigated complex legal and public scrutiny, culminating in a settled resolution in late 2024. The experience strengthened her resolve and expanded her vision beyond venture capital, emphasizing advocacy and systemic change.
Following the settlement, Simone launched Fearless Freedom, a global initiative aimed at dismantling economic barriers and championing financial inclusion. Through storytelling, policy engagement, and community-building, Fearless Freedom seeks to address structural inequities and amplify the voices of women and communities historically marginalized in business and finance.
Simone wears many hats—venture capitalist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, author, and board director, including at Steve Madden—making her story a compelling example of leadership and economic empowerment. Her work centers on economic justice as a cornerstone of equality, advocating for wealth-building opportunities and the creation of generational wealth for women of color.
Under Simone’s guidance, the Fearless Fund has not only provided crucial funding but has created a blueprint for supporting underrepresented founders, demonstrating how mission-driven investment can drive both profit and social impact. Through her advocacy, mentorship, and strategic investments, Simone is building a legacy that elevates women of color in entrepreneurship and amplifies their economic influence globally.
