The New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) has released its 2025 Impact Report, revealing the powerful influence the annual event continues to have on consumers, the automotive industry, and the broader business community. Now in its 125th year, the historic New York Auto Show remains the nation’s longest-running and largest automotive exhibition — and a vital platform for connecting brands with eager buyers.

According to the new report, 81% of attendees said the Auto Show directly influenced their next vehicle purchase, underscoring its unique role as a high-impact marketing and sales driver for automakers. Conducted by Clarify Group, the research highlights how NYIAS attracts a dedicated, purchase-ready audience: 67% of visitors reported it was the only automotive event they attended all year, and they spent an average of over four hours exploring exhibits and displays.

“The New York Auto Show has become a centerpiece for innovation and engagement,” said Mark Schienberg, NYIAS President and CEO. “Celebrating 125 years of auto exhibitions in New York has positioned the show as the longest running and largest annual marketing event the auto industry holds. As organizers of this iconic event, we constantly examine its effectiveness and value in bringing the best of the automotive world right into the heart of New York City.”

Other key findings reinforce the show’s marketing impact. Half of all “24-month intenders” — those planning to buy a vehicle within two years — added at least one new brand to their consideration list after visiting. Attendees were also found to be 2.6 times more likely than the general population to be in the market for a new car, with 56% planning to visit a dealership within the next year.

The event’s influence extends well beyond the convention floor. Media coverage surrounding the Auto Show’s unveiling of new products and industry announcements reached a record audience of 35.5 billion, reflecting its importance as both a consumer and media hub.

John Bozzella, President and CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, emphasized the show’s ongoing relevance to the industry’s future: “The New York Auto Show continues to distinguish itself as a forum for auto industry leaders, policymakers, and the business community to come together and talk about how to seize opportunities and navigate the challenges in the years ahead.”
