Rachel Brosnahan and Audible Theater Reunite for Final Run of ‘The Pansy Craze’ at Minetta Lane

Audible Theater and Rachel Brosnahan’s Scrap Paper Pictures are teaming up once again for The Pansy Craze, announcing a return engagement at the Minetta Lane Theatre for three final performances this November. Written and created by Hunter Bird and Mason Alexander Park, and hosted by Park, the limited run will take place November 20–22, with all performances beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are now available at AudiblexMinetta.com

A hybrid of live music, history, and storytelling, The Pansy Craze explores the evolution of queer visibility and culture through performance. Each installment of the six-part series blends the glamour of cabaret with the intimacy of a piano bar, revisiting key eras in LGBTQ+ history when queerness was alternately celebrated, exploited, and outlawed. The production reimagines the social and cultural whirlwind of the original “Pansy Craze” — a 1930s movement that brought drag and queer performance to mainstream nightlife before being shut down by a wave of repression.

“The show is both a reclamation and a celebration,” said creators Bird and Park. “It brings to light the hidden corners of queer history and honors the performers who refused to be erased.”

In addition to the live residency, The Pansy Craze will be recorded during its Minetta Lane run and released globally as an Audible Original on June 4, 2026. The audio experience will allow listeners to relive the performances and their rich storytelling from anywhere in the world. Pre-orders for the Audible release are currently open.

Previous installments of The Pansy Craze at Minetta Lane featured an impressive lineup of guests, including Jackie Cox, Evan Rachel Wood, and Laverne Cox. The guest artists for the November performances will be announced in the coming weeks, promising another round of unforgettable collaborations.

The show’s theatrical supervision is by Beacon Theatrical Services, with general management by ShowTown Theatricals.

This encore follows a strong run of innovative productions from Audible Theater, which continues to merge stage and sound experiences. Its current season at the Minetta Lane includes the New York premiere of Mexodus, written and performed by Brian Quijada and Nygel D. Robinson, directed by David Mendizábal. Other recent highlights include Patton Oswalt’s Black Coffee and Ice Water and DeVon Franklin’s Be True: My Journey from Breakdown to Breakthrough.
