The Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is set to delight audiences once again with the return of its hit holiday production, “Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!,” running from Nov. 4, through Jan. 4, 2026, on the UnitedHealth Group Stage. Opening night is scheduled for Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. The beloved musical features a book and lyrics by Timothy Mason, music by Mel Marvin, and is directed for the second time by CTC Acting Company member Dean Holt. Music direction is provided by Jason Hansen and Victor Zupanc, with new choreography by Karla Grotting.
This marks the 13th production of the show at CTC, originally commissioned and premiered in 1994, and the eighth time Reed Sigmund will portray the cantankerous Grinch. Sigmund expressed his excitement, saying, “This character and story are so rich and timely, and I never tire from exploring and playing in their gorgeous world.”
Director Dean Holt highlighted the production’s enduring appeal, stating, “The opportunity to share this beloved story and bring heart and humor to the holiday season is truly special. It is a story of community, onstage and off, and the joy we find in that togetherness.”
The story follows the miserly Grinch as he plots to steal Christmas from the joyful Whos of Whoville—until the smallest Who, Cindy-Lou, teaches him a lesson in kindness, community, and the transformative power of generosity. With its catchy music, whimsical rhymes, and timeless message, the production has become a holiday tradition for audiences of all ages.
The adult cast features Reed Sigmund as The Grinch, Dean Holt as Old Max, Matthew Hall as JP Who, Autumn Ness as Mama Who, Adam Qualls as Grandpa Who, Suzie Juul as Grandma Who, and Janely Rodriguez as Betty-Lou Who, alongside a talented ensemble and understudies. The student cast includes Chloe Sorensen as Cindy-Lou Who, Adelyn Frost and Harriet Spencer as Young Max, and a full ensemble of young Whos, bringing extra charm and energy to the production.
The creative team rounds out the production with scenic design by Tom Butsch, costumes by David Kay Mickelsen, lighting by Nancy Schertler, sound by Sean Healey, projections by Craig Gottschalk, and stage management led by Nate Stanger, with additional choreography, lighting, and stage support from a skilled team.
Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased at childrenstheatre.org/grinch.
