Jazz Power Initiative Welcomes Donnie Atis to Its Board of Directors

Jazz Power Initiative (JPI), a leading nonprofit dedicated to jazz education and community arts programs, recently announced the appointment of Donnie Atis as its newest board member. Atis brings two decades of leadership experience in financial services and banking, currently serving as Senior Vice President and Head of Bank and Broker Dealer Experience at Global Atlantic.

Atis’s addition reflects a shared commitment to community empowerment and youth development, central to JPI’s mission. A lifelong supporter of jazz education, Atis is also an accomplished pianist and avid collector of vintage keyboard instruments. His combination of strategic insight and personal connection to music positions him as a strong advocate for JPI’s ongoing growth and impact.

“Donnie’s personal knowledge of music and the importance of music education alongside his deep experience in finance will be a tremendous asset to Jazz Power and our mission to transform lives through jazz arts education and performance,” said Dr. Eli Yamin, co-founder and managing & artistic director of JPI. Board President Dr. Wendy Rothman echoed the sentiment: “Donnie brings both strategic thinking and genuine passion for our mission. We couldn’t be happier to have him join our board.”

As Jazz Power Initiative prepares for its 2026 Syncopated Gala Celebration, Atis will play a key role in expanding the organization’s reach within the financial services sector while advocating for jazz as a transformative educational tool. His leadership is expected to support JPI’s efforts in sustaining programming, strengthening community engagement, and innovating funding strategies in a challenging nonprofit landscape.

Founded 22 years ago, Jazz Power Initiative serves children and families in Harlem, Washington Heights, and Inwood, providing arts education, in-school programs, and community jazz performances. With nonprofit funding increasingly uncertain, JPI is focusing on creative and sustainable strategies to continue its mission of inspiring youth and building vibrant cultural communities.

Atis’s appointment underscores the organization’s dedication to blending professional expertise with artistic passion. His guidance is anticipated to help JPI navigate financial challenges, grow its programs, and elevate jazz education for the next generation of students and performers.
