Wine tourism is taking on a new dimension in Piedmont, where Montalbera has launched the Montalbera 360° Experience, an expansive hospitality project designed to immerse visitors in the wine, landscape and culture of Monferrato.
Conceived by owner Franco Morando, the project brings together wine, accommodations, wellness and outdoor adventures at the estate in Castagnole Monferrato. At the center of the experience is Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, Montalbera’s flagship wine and one of Piedmont’s distinctive indigenous varieties.
Located within the Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Montalbera has designed its hospitality program around the principles of “Space, Light and Harmony.” The goal is to give visitors more than a traditional winery tour by creating opportunities to experience the region at a slower pace.
The estate’s five Montalbera Wine Suites overlook a natural amphitheater of vineyards, offering guests privacy and expansive views. Some suites feature private outdoor Jacuzzis, while three additional accommodation units with fully equipped kitchens are under development.
One of the newest additions is a 16-meter infinity pool filled with salt water and maintained at 28 degrees Celsius. The pool is part of the 700-square-meter “Dolce Vita” Terrace, which includes four private gazebo suites and 25 sun loungers overlooking the surrounding vineyards.
Visitors can combine their stay with guided winery tours and tastings, vineyard excursions and a variety of outdoor activities. Options include wine trekking, e-bike rides, quad adventures, vineyard picnics and horseback riding through the Monferrato hills. Some activities are organized with local partners, including Richard’s Ranch, an equestrian center and wildlife park.
Wellness is also part of the experience. Among the more unusual offerings is yoga inside the barrel cellar, where guests practice surrounded by French oak barrels and the aromas of aging wine. Outdoor hot tubs overlooking the vineyards provide another setting for relaxing with an aperitif.
For wine enthusiasts, guided tours lead into underground aging cellars containing more than 400 barriques. Tastings showcase different expressions of Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, highlighting the grape’s versatility.
The estate also inaugurated a new multifunctional Event Hall in 2026, designed for private tastings, corporate meetings, presentations and special events. Large windows connect the contemporary space with the vineyards, while an equipped kitchen supports professional catering and live cooking.
Montalbera’s expansion reflects a broader approach to wine hospitality, positioning the winery as a destination where visitors can experience not only its wines but also the landscape, traditions and lifestyle of Piedmont. With 130 hectares of vineyards in Monferrato and historic Moscato d’Asti vineyards in Langhe, the Morando family continues to blend regional heritage with contemporary hospitality.
