The African American Small Business Foundation, Inc. was launched with the goal of increasing resources to minority-owned businesses which were adversely impacted during the recent pandemic and historically underserved by diverse sectors of society. The goal of the foundation is to support small businesses in a variety of ways according to its mission and goals.
In December of 2021 the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. was selected as a spoke for the SBA’s Community Navigator Pilot Program.
The SBA’s Community Navigator Pilot Program was created to ensure that small and micro-businesses receive support and access to federal relief programs in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic that can help them recover, grow, and thrive. The grant is structured as a “Hub and Spoke” model to utilize networks and community advocates to assist historically underserved small businesses and entrepreneurs to better connect to the critical resources needed to launch, pivot, and recover from the impacts of the pandemic.
LI African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., a participating organization in the Community Navigator Pilot Program, is funded in part through United States Black Chamber’s grant with the U.S. Small Business Administration. The goal of the foundation is to develop a sustainable ecosystem to support minority-owned businesses well into the future by securing diverse funding to support the needs of small business owners served by the foundation.
The foundation’s goal is to continue the work we are currently doing and build upon the success of the SBA’s Community Navigator Pilot Program.
