The skincare world continues to evolve with innovative ingredients and holistic approaches taking center stage. Aesthetic Nurse and skincare expert Kelly Swann of Swann Beauty has shared her top trend predictions for the year — and they’re all about strengthening the skin from within, embracing nature, and taking a preventative approach to beauty.
Turmeric and Vitamin C Face Scrubs:
Expect to see more natural exfoliants on shelves, with turmeric and vitamin C leading the charge. “Turmeric brightens and evens skin tone, while vitamin C boosts collagen and protects against environmental stressors,” Swann explains in a press release. Together, they pack a powerful, antioxidant punch. Look for scrubs made with sugar or crushed nuts — or even whip up a DIY blend with turmeric powder, honey, and brown sugar for an at-home glow boost.
Microbiome-Infused Body Care:
The skin’s microbiome — the community of good bacteria that protects against damage — will take center stage in 2025. “A balanced microbiome is essential for skin health,” says Swann in a press release. Products containing probiotics and prebiotics, like microbiome-supportive lotions and serums, help maintain that balance. Swann also recommends supporting your skin from within with a diet rich in fiber and probiotics.
Regenerative Aesthetics:
The future of skincare is regenerative. “We’ll see more demand for products with growth factors and peptides that accelerate the skin’s natural renewal process,” Swann notes. These ingredients help repair and rejuvenate, enhancing long-term skin health. Think beyond quick fixes — regenerative aesthetics focus on real, lasting results.
Ectoin: The Barrier-Boosting Powerhouse:
Ectoin, an amino acid derivative, is rising in popularity thanks to its ability to strengthen the skin barrier and reduce water loss. “With environmental stressors increasing, protecting your skin barrier is crucial,” Swann advises. Look for moisturizers or serums featuring ectoin to keep skin hydrated and resilient.
The Rise of Preventative Skincare:
“2025 is all about prevention,” says Swann. Instead of waiting for skin problems to appear, people are investing in daily SPF, antioxidant serums, and hydrating treatments to stay ahead of the curve. The focus: long-term skin health over quick repairs.
Overnight Skincare:
Lastly, overnight oils for skin and hair will be trending. “Nighttime is when the body repairs itself — oils rich in fatty acids nourish while you sleep,” Swann shares. Look for argan or rosehip oil to boost hydration and wake up glowing.
