The New York metropolitan area is seeing a surge of hope and support for children facing illness and food insecurity, thanks to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. In 2025, the Foundation awarded more than $1.6 million in grants and Signature Impact Programs to 68 local nonprofit organizations, funding initiatives that bring joy, relief, and opportunity to kids during some of life’s toughest moments.
The Foundation’s grants targeted critical needs across multiple fronts. Hunger relief programs received significant support, helping organizations such as the Food Bank For New York City, Feeding Westchester, Fulfill, and Table to Table address rising demand. Long Island Cares alone benefited from the donation of 23,310 meals, feeding children and families struggling to make ends meet.
Beyond nourishment, the grants fostered joy and normalcy for children facing health challenges. Programs like Sunrise Day Camps Association offered free summer day camps for children with cancer, providing a respite from medical treatments and a chance to experience fun and camaraderie. Hospital-based initiatives also received funding, creating child-friendly playrooms and introducing full-time facility dogs through the Foundation’s Joyful Spaces and Dogs for Joy programs. These efforts help create welcoming environments where young patients can feel comfort, distraction, and emotional support.
Education was another key area of focus. The Foundation provided scholarships through the Boomer Esiason Foundation to adolescents living with cystic fibrosis and their families, helping ensure continuity in learning and personal development despite health challenges.
The impact of the Foundation’s four Signature Programs—Dunkin’ Joyful Spaces, Dunkin’ Prom, Connecting Joy, and Dogs for Joy—continues to resonate throughout the NY metro region. These programs bring structured, meaningful engagement to hospitals, community health centers, and local nonprofit initiatives, with active participation from Dunkin’ franchisees who volunteer time and resources to make the programs possible.
Through these efforts, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation is helping children and their families not only meet essential needs but also experience moments of happiness, creativity, and belonging. The Foundation’s work demonstrates that support for children facing adversity can extend beyond immediate relief, creating lasting impact on their emotional well-being, educational growth, and overall quality of life.
In a year marked by challenges for many families, the Foundation’s commitment reminds the community that even small acts of support—meals, playrooms, camp experiences, or scholarships—can deliver profound joy. As these programs continue into 2026, local nonprofits, hospitals, and families will continue to feel the ripple effect of these meaningful investments in childhood well-being.
