Sasha Primak is bringing together two generations of New York jewelry craftsmanship with its acquisition of Gemlok, the renowned jewelry atelier known for its innovative designs and more than five decades of fine jewelry production.
The acquisition combines Gemlok’s design heritage with Sasha Primak’s manufacturing expertise, creating a partnership focused on preserving American craftsmanship while positioning the historic brand for future growth.
Founded more than 50 years ago by Paris-trained master jeweler Jean Vitau, Gemlok began after Vitau arrived in New York with three eternity band designs and a vision influenced by the precision and artistry of European jewelry ateliers. He established a New York workshop dedicated to craftsmanship, innovation and timeless design.
Gemlok became particularly recognized for its patented Gemlok Bridge Setting, an innovation that helped transform bridal jewelry. The technique elevates each diamond while creating a setting designed to be secure, snag-resistant and visually refined.
Although bridal jewelry helped establish Gemlok’s reputation, the atelier’s work extends across fine jewelry categories. Its artisans create rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and bespoke pieces featuring natural diamonds and colored gemstones.
The acquisition reflects Sasha Primak’s broader strategy of building a portfolio of jewelry companies rooted in craftsmanship, innovation and long-standing relationships with independent retailers.

Continuity will be central to the transition. Myriam “Mimi” Galli will remain president of Gemlok, helping maintain relationships with the company’s retail partners while guiding its next chapter with the support and resources of Sasha Primak.
