Optimum is investing in public education across the Bronx and Brooklyn with a $50,000 matching donation initiative designed to help teachers secure classroom resources and expand learning opportunities for students ahead of the 2026-2027 school year.
Through its partnership with national education nonprofit DonorsChoose, the telecommunications company will match eligible donations to technology and engineering classroom projects submitted by public school teachers serving students in grades six through 12 in both boroughs.
The initiative will provide up to $25,000 in matching funds for eligible classroom projects in each borough, bringing the company’s total commitment to as much as $50,000. The funding will help educators obtain essential classroom supplies, technology, tools and other resources to support hands-on learning and introduce students to new educational experiences.
Optimum is encouraging public school teachers in the Bronx and Brooklyn to submit qualifying classroom projects through DonorsChoose. Community members are also invited to contribute to projects, with eligible donations receiving matching support from the company while funds remain available.
A list of eligible classroom projects is available through the DonorsChoose website.
The initiative is part of Optimum’s broader commitment to supporting education, strengthening local communities and expanding access to technology. The company has focused on connecting students and educators with resources that can help improve learning opportunities, particularly in areas involving science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
By supporting technology and engineering projects, the partnership aims to help teachers bring innovative lessons and practical learning experiences into their classrooms while encouraging students to explore subjects that can prepare them for future academic and career opportunities.
Optimum has also emphasized the importance of expanding access to high-quality internet service for underserved communities and supporting programs that inspire the next generation of innovators.
The company’s latest commitment builds on its efforts to engage with the communities within its service area and address local needs through education-focused initiatives.
For teachers working with limited classroom budgets, crowdfunding platforms such as DonorsChoose provide an opportunity to seek financial support for specific projects and supplies that might otherwise be difficult to obtain. Corporate matching programs can help those requests reach their funding goals more quickly by encouraging additional community participation.
With its $50,000 commitment, Optimum hopes to give educators in the Bronx and Brooklyn additional resources to create engaging classrooms and help students develop the skills and knowledge needed for the future.
