Kokomo in Brooklyn: Your Caribbean Escape in the Heart of NYC This Summer 2024

We are now in the official throws of summer 2024 given the ushering in of the season with the Summer Solstice. While summer getaways to the sun-drenched islands are high on the list of many, we suggest capturing that same vibe without ever having to leave the confines of New York City.

Kokomo restaurant, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is one of two hot spots owned by hospitality entrepreneurs and New York City natives Ria Grahame and Kevol Graham (partners in both life and business). Kokomo will definitely transport you to the Caribbean through a dining experience that offers a dash of frivolity with a pinch of embrace amidst a more than sumptuous menu and cocktail offering.

Located on a corner property on the East River’s doorstep, Kokomo offers both wraparound outdoor seating as well as several sections of indoor seating. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a high-energy atmosphere and island music pumping through the airwaves. In the restaurant’s Lover’s Rock section, featuring cozy bistro-style seating for two, you might catch a birthday celebration or two, complete with sparklers atop a dessert delivered by a warmhearted waitress.

If you head to the Main Room to enjoy a cocktail at the bar before dinner, be prepared to encounter a creative island cocktail menu that rivals the best hotels in the Caribbean. The selection of signature cocktails is truly impressive, evoking images of sun-soaked beaches. Afterward, you can be seated in the dining section opposite the bar or in the larger part of the restaurant known as the Paradise Room, which features cozy banquettes and vibrant colors. For special events, Kokomo even offers its underground Champagne Room, a chic and private space that evokes the ocean with its blues and greens, providing a truly transportive experience.

The restaurant’s décor creates a dining experience that is both comforting and luxurious. Start with mouth-watering appetizers such as ackee & saltfish stuffed plantain cups, a salty and sweet delight that is as creative as it is satisfying. Kokomo’s entrée selection is simply overflowing with well-presented, well-seasoned dishes that offer satisfying and rich portions. Our top picks include the Jamaican jerk chicken, lentil meatballs in coconut curry, and braised oxtail. The Red Peppa Jerk Chicken stands out, featuring free-range, all-natural chicken that is juicy and served with a side of rice and beans and seasonal vegetables.

Kokomo expertly blends influences from African, Indigenous, European, and Asian culinary traditions, creating a true delight beautifully paired with the warmth of the staff, reminiscent of Island hospitality.

Kokomo is part of the Kokomo Hospitality Group (KHG) and is Black-owned.

Whether planning your next celebration, date night, and/or simply looking for a new spot for brunch, this is now your new go-to restaurant. In addition, the restaurant is offering a special Koko Hour Tuesday-Friday and a bottomless brunch every Friday from 11am-4pm!
