Delta Air Lines is expanding its trans-Atlantic network with a new daily nonstop route from New York-JFK to Porto, Portugal, beginning May 21, 2026. This marks Delta’s first-ever nonstop service to the northern Portuguese city, offering travelers direct access to one of Europe’s most colorful and culturally rich destinations. The new route is part of seven new European services launching next summer, reflecting Delta’s commitment to delivering more destinations, flights, and premium experiences.
“Delta’s new nonstop service from JFK to Porto gives customers even more opportunities to explore Europe while enjoying our award-winning service and onboard experience,” said Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of Network Planning at Delta. “Whether discovering Portugal or traveling to our other new destinations, including Sardinia and Malta, these additions expand choice for our customers and reinforce JFK as a leading global gateway.”
Porto, situated along the scenic Douro River, is renowned for its vibrant architecture, cobblestone streets, and iconic azulejo-tiled churches. Travelers can explore the city’s bustling waterfront, indulge in northern Portuguese culinary specialties, or visit the world-famous port wine cellars. Beyond the city, the rolling vineyards of the Douro Valley and Portugal’s golden northern beaches provide additional experiences for those seeking culture, relaxation, and adventure.
Delta’s new service builds on its existing connections to Portugal. The airline currently operates daily year-round flights to Lisbon from JFK and seasonal daily service from Boston, giving travelers flexible options to reach the Iberian Peninsula.
Flights to Porto will operate from Delta’s JFK hub, which offers over 200 peak-day departures to more than 100 destinations. Delta One passengers can enjoy the Delta One Lounge before departure, featuring serene design, gourmet dining, premium beverages, and attentive service. Onboard the Boeing 767-300, Delta offers four cabin experiences: Delta One®, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin. Delta One® provides lie-flat seats, chef-curated meals, Missoni-designed amenity kits, and Taittinger champagne, while Premium Select offers wider seats and enhanced comfort. All cabins include dining, Delta Studio entertainment, and free Delta Sync Wi-Fi for SkyMiles Members.
Porto’s addition comes as part of Delta’s most expansive trans-Atlantic schedule to date, which also includes new service from Boston to Madrid and Nice, enhanced flights to Barcelona and Milan, and direct routes from Seattle to Barcelona and Rome. Additional flights between Detroit and Dublin further strengthen connectivity across Europe.
With Porto joining the roster, Delta continues to offer travelers premium, convenient, and culturally immersive access to Europe, making next summer the perfect time to explore Portugal and beyond.
