The Nevis Tourism Authority is strengthening its relationships with U.S. travel advisors following a five-city summer sales mission designed to promote the Caribbean island to travelers seeking personalized and intimate vacation experiences.
The Second Annual Northeast Summer Showcase brought Nevis tourism representatives to Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Boston, Massachusetts. More than 650 travel advisors participated across the five events, including professionals affiliated with Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network, Ensemble, Travel Leaders and AAA Travel.
Representing the Nevis Tourism Authority were Pheon Jones, director of sales and marketing, and Cyndi Miller Aird, U.S. sales representative. They joined representatives from the St. Kitts Tourism Authority for the multi-city initiative.
The showcase included trade shows, dinners and supplier presentations, giving travel advisors an opportunity to meet directly with destination representatives and learn about accommodations, airlift, tourism programs and experiences available across Nevis and St. Kitts.
The Northeast is an important U.S. source market for the Caribbean, and the tourism authority is using direct relationships with travel professionals to expand awareness of Nevis among prospective visitors. The island’s tourism strategy emphasizes its boutique character, natural surroundings and experiences centered on culture, history, wellness, food, romance and outdoor adventure.
“Travel advisors play an essential role in introducing Nevis to discerning travelers who value authenticity, privacy, and a deeper connection to the places they visit,” said Jones. “The Northeast Summer Showcase allowed us to engage directly with some of the industry’s most influential advisors, share what is new across the island, and provide them with the knowledge and relationships they need to confidently recommend Nevis to their clients.”
Nevis spans approximately 36 square miles and is part of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. The island is known for its volcanic peak, beaches, lush landscapes and historic sites. Unlike many Caribbean destinations, Nevis has no cruise port and no high-rise developments, contributing to its small-scale tourism environment.
The island also has significant historical ties to the United States. Nevis is the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton and was the site of Admiral Horatio Nelson’s 18th-century marriage to Frances Nisbet.
The tourism authority says its continued engagement with travel advisors is part of a broader focus on high-value tourism. By providing industry professionals with destination updates and firsthand knowledge, Nevis hopes to build a network of travel advisors who can introduce the island to clients looking for a quieter Caribbean experience.
