As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, Jefferson’s Bourbon is marking the milestone with a one-of-a-kind waterfront tasting in New York City that blends history, craftsmanship, and maritime tradition.
The premium bourbon brand, an official sponsor of Sail4th—the nation’s signature maritime celebration honoring America’s semiquincentennial—will host an exclusive tasting event aboard the historic tall ship Oosterschelde at South Street Seaport’s Pier 17 on July 7.

The event will introduce Jefferson’s Founder’s Reserve 20 Year Old, a limited-release Kentucky Straight Bourbon that has been aged for two decades before being finished in French Bordeaux wine casks. The launch reflects Jefferson’s longstanding connection to ocean-inspired aging techniques, which have helped distinguish the brand in the premium bourbon market.
Guests will be guided through the tasting by Jefferson’s founder, Trey Zoeller, who is expected to discuss the inspiration behind the new expression, the evolving bourbon industry, and the innovation that continues to shape the brand.

The experience extends beyond whiskey. Attendees will enjoy oysters, caviar, and a unique tasting drawn directly from a Jefferson’s Ocean barrel, highlighting the company’s signature approach of exposing bourbon to the motion and changing climate of sea voyages to influence its flavor profile.
Hosting the event aboard the Oosterschelde adds another layer of symbolism. The historic sailing vessel, docked at South Street Seaport for the celebration, provides a fitting backdrop for a brand whose identity has become closely associated with exploration and maritime aging.

Jefferson’s has built a reputation by experimenting with unconventional maturation techniques, particularly through its Jefferson’s Ocean series, in which barrels travel aboard ships around the world before bottling. The company’s latest release continues that spirit of exploration while celebrating America’s maritime heritage during the country’s 250th birthday festivities.
